Republic of Madagascar

gp:country/mdgComplete

The full government (Prime Minister and 30 ministers) is taken from the Office of the Prime Minister's official members page, in its protocol order; titles are Govpedia's translations from French (for example 'Garde des Sceaux, Ministre de la Justice' as 'Keeper of the Seals, Minister of Justice'). Names are given in the order shown on the official page, in normal capitalisation rather than its upper-case surnames. Start dates for individual ministers are not given on the official page and are left out. No changes after the March 2026 formation were found. The presidency's own site could not be opened, so the head of state rests on reference and news sources and is marked disputed because of the circumstances of the October 2025 takeover.

Michael Randrianirina

President of the Refoundation of the Republic of Madagascar · 17 Oct 2025 – present[2][4][5]

A colonel of the CAPSAT army unit, he took power in October 2025 after weeks of protests: on 14 October 2025 his unit announced a Council of the Presidency for the Re-Foundation and suspended the Constitution and most institutions, and President Andry Rajoelina fled abroad. The High Constitutional Court asked him to carry out the duties of president and he was sworn in on 17 October 2025. He denies that this was a coup. The African Union suspended Madagascar on 15 October 2025 over an unconstitutional change of government and the suspension was still in force in August 2026. Official presidency pages could not be opened (presidence.gov.mg returned 404).

Appointed under the transitional authorities that took power in October 2025. The African Union suspended Madagascar from all its bodies on 15 October 2025 (Peace and Security Council) and it remained suspended in August 2026, while the Southern African Development Community (SADC) chose to work with the transitional authorities and Madagascar takes full part in SADC work. A two-year transition roadmap published in February 2026 provides for national consultations, a new constitution and a presidential election in late 2027 (Al Jazeera). Govpedia records who exercises power as the sources describe it and takes no position on legitimacy. Dates are the start of each minister’s current term in this government.
