Head of state and government
VerifiedElected President by the Nitijela on 2 January 2024 (17 votes to 16 over David Kabua) and sworn in the next day; she was previously President from 2016 to 2020. The start date is from Wikipedia (mhl-wiki-heine).
Cabinet is from the Office of the President & Cabinet's 'Ministers' page (rmigov.com), which agrees with the CIA World Leaders list updated 2 September 2026. The Nitijela members page still shows the January 2024 allocation (Lakjohn in Assistance to the President, Gasper at Internal Affairs, Kisino at Health, Bejang at Education). Lakjohn, Gasper and Kisino have since changed portfolios, but no page opened gives the date of that change, so it has no event entry and those ministers have no 'since' date. The official page names the natural resources minister as Anthony Muller (Tony Muller elsewhere). Ministers' 'since' dates are otherwise left out because no page opened gives them for the current portfolios.
Marshall Islands is a parliamentary republic with an executive president[1]. The President, Hilda Heine, is both head of state and head of government[3][4][5][6]. Govpedia records 11 members of its cabinet.
