Republic of South Sudan

The caretaker cabinet is recorded as far as it could be sourced: the 13 ministers named on 22 September 2026 (confirmed by both Radio Tamazuj and the US CIA World Leaders list of 24 September 2026), three of the four named on 28 September 2026, and the replacement Health Minister named on 1 October 2026 (18 seats including the President). No official South Sudanese page listing the ministers could be found, so all claims are sourced. Further caretaker appointments after 1 October 2026 may exist and were not found. Spellings follow the CIA list where the sources differ (for example Radio Tamazuj writes Africano Monde Gedima, Oboto Mamur Mete and Awou Daniel Chiang). Party affiliations of the caretaker ministers are not recorded because no source opened gives them.

On 22 September 2026 President Kiir dissolved the transitional unity government set up under the 2018 peace agreement, together with the national and state legislatures, relieved First Vice-President Riek Machar, the four Vice-Presidents and all national ministers, and appointed caretaker ministers ahead of general elections scheduled for 22 December 2026. Riek Machar, described as the suspended First Vice-President, remains under house arrest and on trial on charges including treason and murder, which he denies (source: ssd-aljazeera-dissolution). Dates are the start of each minister’s current term in this government.
