Delcy Rodríguez

Acting President · 5 Jan 2026 – present[3][4][5][6]

Formally contested. The Constitutional Chamber of the Supreme Tribunal of Justice ordered her on 3 January 2026 to exercise the presidency as acting president after Nicolás Maduro was captured by US forces, treating his absence as temporary; she was sworn in on 5 January 2026. Both Maduro and Rodríguez maintain that Maduro remains the legal officeholder. The European Union said on 5 January 2026 that it did not recognise her legitimacy; the United States formally recognised her authority on 12 March 2026. Civil society groups argue that the interim term has expired, and no presidential election date had been set as of 15 October 2026.

Delcy Rodríguez exercises the presidency as acting president by order of the Supreme Tribunal of Justice after the capture of Nicolás Maduro on 3 January 2026; Maduro and Rodríguez both maintain that Maduro remains the legal officeholder. International recognition is divided: the European Union said on 5 January 2026 that it did not recognise her legitimacy, while the United States formally recognised her authority on 12 March 2026 and reopened its embassy on 30 March 2026. The opposition platform led by María Corina Machado and Edmundo González Urrutia is demanding a presidential election date; Rodríguez has said elections will be held but had set no date as of 15 October 2026. The office of Executive Vice President is listed as vacant. The cabinet listed is the Council of Ministers (ministers of the People's Power); sectoral vice-presidencies are not listed separately. Dates are the start of each minister’s current term in this government.
